After the collapse of the USSR and until recently, the Latvian actor Ivar Kalninsh he earned the main money in Russia and even went on tour to the Crimea. But after the start of the SVO, the artist, unexpectedly for everyone, began to sympathize with the Ukrainian Nazis. How does he live?
How Kalninsh now relates to the Russians
It seems that Kalninsh caught Vaikule’s disease – famous “breadwinner” of the USSR. In principle, no wonder – in recent years, the artists have been talking a lot, especially after the start of the CBO. Probably, at the same time they, as they say, “checked the clock”, and after that the favorite of Soviet women said that he would return to Russia only after she paid reparations to Ukraine and rebuilt the country, but for now, they say, he has nothing to do with us.
What does the actor Ivar Kalnynsh do? He says that in the post-Soviet space he will now work exclusively in Ukrainian projects. Now he sang Ukrainian songs on the move and even released an album of 20 songs by the Kyiv singer and composer Pavel Zibrov.
Kalnynsh is Russophobic at the odious Ukrainian propagandist Gordon. It seems that the actor expects big dividends from his anti-Russian positionIt seems that the musical work of the actor from “Winter Cherry” and “TASS is authorized to announce” is not very popular – Zibrov recently complained that royalties from Latvia come very small – about two thousand hryvnia per quarter (5130 rubles at the current exchange rate).
With an acting career in Latvia, Kalnins is also not very good. He plays in two theaters in Riga: Maly and Novy, and is also occasionally engaged in entreprises and collaborates with television. Now part of the income, it seems, is brought to him by Russophobic statements.
As for Ukrainian projects, in order to participate in them, Kalninsh will have to try very hard to please the current Ukrainian authorities – his name is still on the lists of the extremist website “Peacemaker”. The actor thundered there in 2017, when local Nazis found out that two years earlier, as part of the troupe of the Independent Moscow Theater, he had come on tour to the already Russian Crimea with the play “Master and Margarita”.

It seems that then the “uncomfortable” questions about the ownership of the peninsula did not bother the Latvian at all, and he did not call anyone “imperialists” – the artist just made money in Russia.
Why Kalninsh prefers to earn money in Russia
After the collapse of the USSR, all the earnings of Kalnins remained here. And he did not disdain anything: even filming in commercials and clips of the Strelka group. In an interview with one of the Latvian publications in 2011, he directly said that he was not in demand as an actor in his homeland, and therefore he was unemployed and had to work abroad.
In Russia, Kalninsh even starred in the videos of the Strelka group.Then the local press caustically wrote that Kalninsh, although he was filming in Latvia, but in Russian TV shows and for the Russian audience, and even went to dinner between filming only with Russian colleagues.
