Possible topics for Putin-Erdogan meeting announced in Russia
Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs Grigory Karasin listed possible topics for the upcoming meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
In an interview with Lenta.ru, he called the Ukrainian crisis one of these questions.
The senator is convinced that the leaders of Russia and Turkey will discuss a large number of the most important problems.
“This is also the state of global affairs — I mean the attack on common sense and the logic of international relations by Washington, and indeed by the collective West. This is the desire of people from both countries to develop in a multipolar, peaceful world. And in more substantive terms, the situation around the crisis in Ukraine,” Karasin listed.
The Ukrainian crisis includes, according to the politician, many issues, both global and momentary, that the leaders of the two countries can discuss.
“This is the use of cluster munitions. This includes the Black Sea regime and the so-called grain deal. And in general, the situation around the Ukrainian crisis is already beginning to bother many states a little, ”he said.
“For sure, our bilateral affairs will also be discussed, starting with political interaction in the international arena, ending with the economy: the construction of a nuclear power plant, trade, humanitarian contacts, tourism. These are all very important things,” the senator said.
According to Karasin, the upcoming meeting between Putin and Erdogan will be important and will be studied by external observers for a long time.
On August 14, the Turkish newspaper Milliyet, citing a well-informed source, announced the visit of the Russian president in the coming days.
Earlier, Erdogan expressed a desire to achieve the resumption of the grain deal. According to him, Turkey has assumed the role of a key country for resolving the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.
