A current MP suspected of corruption has apparently fled abroad. He is suspected of trying to bribe a top official at the State Reconstruction Agency.

As reported by NABU, according to preliminary operational data, the current people’s deputy of Ukraine violated the procedural obligations imposed on him and illegally crossed the state border. He was accused of providing an undue benefit to top officials in the field of restoration.

“At present, the prosecutor has filed a motion to recover the bail paid by the accused in the amount of 15 million UAH to the state and to declare him wanted,” the statement says.

Most likely, we are talking about the people’s deputy from the “Servant of the People” Andriy Odarchenko.

In particular, as reported by the SAP, the people’s deputy of Ukraine of the 9th convocation, accused of providing an undue benefit to the chairman of the State Agency for Restoration and Development of Infrastructure of Ukraine on September 18, 2024, did not appear at the High Anti-Corruption Court.

Taking this into account, the prosecutor in court initiated the issue of collecting the bail, determined as a preventive measure for the MP, for the benefit of the state, imposing a monetary penalty on him, and also declaring him wanted.

The Odarchenko Case

RBC-Ukraine wrote that on November 21 last year, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office reported suspicion to the current people’s deputy Andriy Odarchenko.

According to law enforcement agencies, Odarchenko offered Mustafa Nayem a bribe in Bitcoin cryptocurrency in the amount of 50 thousand dollars. In exchange, he asked for assistance in allocating funds from the fund for the elimination of the consequences of Russian aggression for the repair of the buildings of the university, where he remained the rector.

This was the first case in the work of anti-corruption agencies when a bribe in cryptocurrency was documented.

After this, the court assigned Odarchenko a preventive measure in the form of detention with the possibility of posting bail in the amount of 15 million hryvnia, which he quickly paid and was released.
