German MP detained at the entrance to Turkey

Gökay Akbulut, a member of the Bundestag from the Left Party, was temporarily detained in Antalya on 3 August. At the airport, she was told that there was a warrant for her arrest.

The German government intervened to secure her release, according to German media. Akbulut was released a few hours later. What was the essence of the accusation, it is not clear. Akbulut was born in Turkey and has been working in the Bundestag since 2017.
