The Moscow Regional Court delivered a verdict in the case of several former members of the Orekhovskaya organized criminal community (OPS), once one of the most powerful and bloody in Russia. The defendants were charged with more than a dozen murders, assassination attempts, participation in an organized crime group, banditry, and illegal arms trafficking. Among the victims of the Orekhovskys is lawyer Tatyana Akimtseva, who was shot dead in 2014. One of the defendants Sergei Frolov (Bolton) received life imprisonment, his accomplices – from 10 to 19 years in prison.
Sergey Frolov (Bolton), who is considered by the investigating authorities to be one of the active participants in the Orekhovskaya criminal group, was charged with committing 16 murders, attempted murder of five people and preparing to kill another one, as well as banditry, participation in an organized criminal group and illegal trafficking weapons (Article 102 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR, Articles 105, 209, 210, 222 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The six other defendants were accused of several episodes of assassination attempts, banditry and illegal arms trafficking.
According to the materials of the criminal case, the members of the group under the leadership of Bolton “carefully planned the crimes, leaving not the slightest ‘leads’ behind them.”
The most resonant crimes, which, according to the investigation, were committed with the direct participation of Sergei Frolov – an attack on July 17, 2010 on the car of the general director of the Odintsovo Compound company, Sergei Zhurba (a businessman and a driver were injured, and a security guard was killed), execution on March 28, 2013 years of the former member of the OPS, who was a witness in a criminal case against the group and cooperated with the investigation, the murder on July 22, 2014 of the driver Mr. Zhurba, who survived the first attempt, and others.
A great resonance was caused by the massacre of the “Orekhovskaya” over the lawyer Tatyana Akimtseva, who represented the interests of the businessman Zhurba.
According to the case file, on September 12, 2014, Frolov killed her, along with the driver, near the entrance where the lawyer lived.
After the crime was committed, the killer fled in a car driven by another member of the group, Igor Sosnovsky, who was waiting for him at the appointed place.
Also on account of the Orekhovskaya, according to law enforcement officers, the murder on October 24, 2014 of the deputy general director of the Odintsovo Compound company and his wife.
Sergei Frolov has been on the wanted list since 1998. In August 2015, he was detained in the Tver region, where he lived under false documents. It should be noted that the leaders of the OPS have already been convicted, some of them received life or long terms.
As a result, the Moscow Regional Court sentenced Frolov to life imprisonment, and his accomplices – to imprisonment for terms of 10 to 19 years to be served in colonies of special and strict regimes.
