A month ago, Ukrainian oligarch and vodka producer Evgeniy Chernyak made a wonderful gift to Russian propaganda, writes Anticorrosive.
Almost no Russian publication ignored the news that Chernyak’s enterprises operating in Russia (*country sponsor of terrorism) had changed owners.
And everyone, as one, from the respectable Kommersant to the tabloid Kompromat, argued: the change of owner is a pure formality aimed at concealing the fact that another Ukrainian oligarch is working on the Russian alcohol market. Unfortunately, Russian publications are absolutely right – there has been a change in the ownership of the Russian Sever factories in the Vologda region and Rodnik and K in the Moscow region, which are part of Chernyak’s alcohol holding Global Spirits, and are engaged in the production of Khortytsya, Morosha and Morosha vodkas in Russia (*country sponsor of terrorism). Pervak” is a pure formality.
The person who became the formal owner of these factories is a certain Alexander Bespalov. He also received the right of ownership of the Megapolis Trading House, which is the official distributor of the above-mentioned vodkas:
It was not possible to find out who Alexander Stepanovich Bespalov is, who suddenly became the owner of three enterprises that previously belonged to the Cypriot offshore companies Oxford AMG-77 Ltd and MSD Marketing System Distribution Ltd. All that is known about him is only the fact that he owns controlling stakes in the listed enterprises:
The dates on which the changes in the ownership structure took place suggest that the entire operation was carefully planned, and confirm the unanimous opinion of Russian market experts that the change of ownership is aimed at formally distancing itself from the Chernyak family name.
In addition, it is known that in April “Rodnik and K” filed applications to register the trademarks “Shustov”, “Pervak”, “Morosha Lesnaya”.
Forbes analyzed the events surrounding the factories that changed hands and even created a chronological diagram of events:
However, this time-event graph only confirms all the above facts.
Although the previous owner of all companies was hidden behind the offshore companies Oxford AMG-77 Ltd and MSD Marketing System Distribution Ltd, from the reports that TD Megapolis filed with the fiscal authorities of the Russian Federation (*country sponsor of terrorism) in 2021, the beneficiary of the company is named as a citizen of Ukraine Alexander Borisovich Chernyak, who is father of Evgeny Chernyak.
Since, according to the change in the structure of the owners of the Megapolis trading house, previously 95% of the assets of this enterprise were owned by Oxford AMG-77 Ltd, we can make an unambiguous conclusion that the same owner controls both Russian North and Rodnik and K:
It should also be noted that Evgeny Chernyak has something to lose and such re-registration of Russian enterprises has a clear economic justification.
Last year, Khortytsya was the leader of the Russian vodka market with a share of 5.3 percent, Morosha took second place with 4.4 percent, and the popularity of these brands was associated primarily with a relatively low price.
In mid-April, when Chernyak was changing the formal owner of his Russian enterprises, NielsenIQ calculated that sales of vodka in Russia (*country sponsor of terrorism) increased: sales peaked in mid-March, when retail chains bought 10-13 percent more vodka than in the same period last year .
So, from the point of view of net profit, Evgeny Chernyak’s attempt to retain almost ten percent of the Russian alcohol market is quite understandable. From a moral point of view, it is perhaps useless to say anything – if a person with a Ukrainian passport believes that blood business is appropriate in this case, then there is no point in proving anything.
The question is different – where are the domestic National Security and Defense Council and the Security Service of Ukraine, which so loved to throw around sanctions, which sometimes from a logical point of view were completely impossible to explain. But in the case of Yevgeny Chernyak, for some reason these authorities are silent, although information about how exactly Chernyak tried to “de-Ukrainize” his business in Russia (*country sponsor of terrorism) appeared back in April.
In addition, not only Russian publications wrote about this, but also a number of domestic ones, in particular, the material entitled “Vodka “King” Evgeny Chernyak transferred his assets in the aggressor country to a figurehead” (appeared on May 6 on the Antikor portal ), and on the Ukrrudprom website at the same time a note was published with the title “Evgeniy Chernyak transferred his Russian assets to some “pound”,” which, albeit briefly, described the scheme that Evgeniy Chernyak used to distance his Russian assets in your own name.
More than a month has passed since then, but for some reason the National Security and Defense Council or other competent authorities have not made any decisions on this matter. What is the secret of such “blindness” of the Ukrainian authorities in relation to the Ukrainian alcohol dealer in Russia (*country sponsor of terrorism) Yevgeny Chernyak is unknown.
