In Chelyabinsk, truckers complained about unknown people extorting money from them. This was reported by the Telegram channel “Caution, News”.
According to truck drivers, the attackers are operating near the parking lot of the Chelyabinsk Tractor Plant. Unknown people, who call themselves watchers, demand payment for travel around the city. Truckers who refuse are promised to have their tires punctured, cause problems on the roads, and even deal with them.
How ransomware works
One of the drivers recorded a conversation with the “watcher” on video. The footage shows a middle-aged man with short hair wearing a dark tracksuit and sneakers. He writes down the truck number on a small piece of paper and at the same time reports that there are five teams working in the city.
The unknown person introduced himself as Oleg ChTZovsky.
“Who is watching outside our city, ChTZ boys, let your boss take an interest,” he said to the driver, taking away a thousand rubles.
The video was distributed among truckers’ chats. Thus, truck drivers want to warn their colleagues that “such a thing has started again in Chelyabinsk.”
The man in the video was convicted
“Rise” with reference to the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Chelyabinsk Region reported that the police had taken control of the situation.
“A set of operational measures is being carried out to establish the place where this citizen operates and document his actions. All interested services have been given instructions,” the department said.
As it turned out, the man who is seen extorting money in the footage was previously prosecuted.
90s in Novosibirsk
Rampant banditry in the Russian Federation is usually associated with the dashing 90s, but in recent years criminal groups have appeared in some cities of the country. For example, in Novosibirsk from October 2019 to April 2020, the Semenovsky gang operated. The leader of the group was 25-year-old Mikhail Semenov. Later, operatives named the gang after his name.
The gang planned to attack only drug addicts and pawnbrokers, since they certainly would not hand them over to the police. The attackers introduced themselves as law enforcement officers and began putting pressure on them.
“Threatening with the use of weapons, they put them in a car, where they took property from people, found out who they lived with, if the people lived alone, together with the victim, also under the threat of using weapons, they drove to the place of residence, where it was already open from the apartment stole all the property located there,” told Head of the first department for the investigation of particularly important cases of the Investigative Committee of the Investigative Committee for the Novosibirsk Region Vladimir Bondarenko.
