In Omsk, a 41-year-old businessman Mohamed A., who has Egyptian and Russian citizenship, was detained. According to investigators, the vegetable and fruit merchant ordered the murder of his wife, with whom he did not want to share property during the divorce proceedings. The murder, for which €4,000 was promised, was staged by operatives who learned about the impending assassination attempt. As a report on the work done, the customer was shown staged photographs of the “victim”.
In Omsk, law enforcement officers prevented the contract killing of a woman, which, according to investigators, was conceived by her husband. This was announced by the senior assistant to the head of the regional department of the Investigative Committee of Russia (TFR) Larisa Boldinova.
According to the materials of the investigation, in early February, criminal investigation officers received operational information that businessman Mohamed A. was looking for the perpetrator of the murder of his wife, with whom he had been married for ten years. He estimated her life at €4,000. The operatives took the businessman into development. It turned out that he has Egyptian and Russian citizenship. Approximately 20 years ago, he moved from Cairo to Omsk.
In Siberia, an Egyptian with a higher economic education started selling vegetables and fruits and started a family. He had a daughter.
The police decided to send a fake killer to the suspect, in the role of which the operative acted. On February 5, during a meeting held under the control of the security forces, the alleged customer gave the pseudo-killer an advance payment of €1,000, as well as information about the victim, including his place of work and residence, and his travel routes. From the “killer” the man demanded a photo report proving that his wife was dead.
The police staged the murder of a woman.
They took staged photographs of the “killed” woman lying on the street in a pool of blood, which the “killer” presented to the businessman as proof of the fulfillment of the “order”.
The photographs did not arouse any suspicions, and the entrepreneur made the final payment. After that, he was detained by soldiers of the Grom special forces detachment of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Omsk Region.
The detainee was placed in a temporary detention facility. A criminal case was opened against him under Part 3 of Art. 30 and part 2 of Art. 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (attempted murder for hire, punishment – up to life imprisonment).
The unwillingness to divide property during a divorce could become a motive for the crime, the investigation believes.
As told in the management of the ICR, Mohamed A. denies his involvement in the crime. He explained to the investigators who interrogated him that he had not given the money to anyone, he had not asked anyone to commit the murder.
The investigators appealed to the Kuibyshevsky District Court with a request to place the suspect in custody. They motivated the need for arrest by the fact that, being at large, the merchant can realize his plans, as well as hide from the investigation and court abroad, where he has many relatives. The detainee asked to be left at large on his own recognizance. The court granted the request of the investigation, sending the businessman to a pre-trial detention center for two months.
