Investigators who are conducting the case of the former vice-governor of the Tomsk region and the ex-senator Yuri Gurdin, unearthed another crime. It turned out that in order to get a job in the administration, Gurdin bought two fake diplomas: one with a degree in law, the other with a degree in mechanical engineering. It is curious that these crusts allowed him to “master” 70 million rubles allocated under the national project “Education”.
Gurdin has two higher educations: in 1993 he allegedly graduated from Tomsk State University (TSU), and in 1997 from Tomsk State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering (TGASU).
In 2001-2002, the official represented the Tomsk region in the Federation Council, where he was deputy chairman of the Committee on Economic Policy. In April 2012, he became the deputy governor of the region and head of the representative office of the Tomsk region in Moscow. In September 2012, he became Vice Governor for Investment Policy and Property Relations.
Ironically, Gurdin got burned on the waste of money that was allocated to the region under the Education national project. In July 2022, he was detained in Anapa and escorted to Tomsk. According to the Criminal Code, he faces up to 10 years in prison for embezzlement. Thus, he will have time to really train as a lawyer and an engineer. […]
Kommersant.Ru, 10/11/2022, “Diplomas required protection”: The Tomsk Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia (TFR) opened a criminal case on the use of forged documents (part 3 of article 327 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) against a former employee of the regional administration. The department does not give the name and position of the suspect; According to Kommersant’s information, we are talking about the former vice-governor for investment policy and property relations, 61-year-old Yuri Gurdin.
According to the investigation, the official acquired and presented, when applying for a job in the regional administration, fake diplomas of two universities – Tomsk State University (TSU) and Tomsk State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering (TGASU). “He used these documents while in his position from 2017 to May 2022,” the ICR said in a statement. Under what circumstances and at what cost the diplomas were acquired, the investigation has yet to establish. — Inset K.ru
