The Preobrazhensky Court of Moscow sentenced the former head of the Derbent district of Dagestan to nine years in a penal colony Magomed Dzhelilov, finding him guilty of embezzlement. This was reported to TASS in the press service of the court.
“This is the second sentence. In this case, Dzhelilov was sentenced to three years and six months, adding the sentence of March 4 of this year. He was finally sentenced to nine years in prison with deprivation of public office for a year,” the agency’s interlocutor said.
In addition, the court satisfied the civil claim of the injured party in the amount of more than 500 thousand rubles, the press service of the district court specified. The verdict has not entered into force and can be appealed on appeal within the time limits established by law.

In March of this year, the Preobrazhensky Court sentenced Dzhelilov to 7.5 years in a penal colony for a similar crime. Another defendant in the criminal case, former district deputy Akif Balakhanov, received a three-year suspended sentence with a three-year probationary period.
This is the third sentence against the ex-official. Earlier, the Preobrazhensky Court sentenced him to six years of general regime, having considered the case of embezzlement from the second time. The court also recovered about 8.7 million rubles from Dzhelilov. This time, the civil suit was not filed, since the subject of the dispute – land plots – were returned to the state.
Dzhelilov was accused of six episodes of embezzlement as part of the investigation of the first criminal case. According to the investigation, in 2015 the defendant illegally provided his relatives with six land plots with a total area of 6 hectares along the Kavkaz federal highway. Damage to the area from his actions amounted to 8.7 million rubles. Dzhelilov was detained in 2019, the Basmanny Court of Moscow removed him from the post of head of the district during the investigation.
