Birthday Surprise
On August 2, right during a meeting of the Federation Council on the eve of his 56th birthday, the senator from the Tula region was detained Dmitry Saveliev. Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov personally asked to be stripped of his immunity. It is known that the legislator is accused of ordering the murder of his companion, Sergei Ionov, who was to be dealt with in a pretrial detention center. A criminal case has been opened against Savelyev under the article on organizing preparations for murder.
On August 2, the last meeting of the Federation Council took place as part of the spring session. At the end, senators congratulated the speaker of the upper house of parliament with applause Valentina Matvienko with the end of the session, when the head of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation (*aggressor country) appeared in the hall Igor Krasnov. The Prosecutor General asked the Federation Council to lift the immunity of one of the senators, Dmitry Savelyev, representing the Tula Region. There were no objections. As his colleague reported Andrey Klishasthe Federation Council gave its consent to the detention of Savelyev, his inclusion as an accused, the search and the application of a preventive measure in the form of detention. He noted that Krasnov provided copies of the criminal case materials, which became a sufficient basis for such a step.
Savelyev was detained while trying to leave the courtroom – he was in such a hurry to leave after his immunity was lifted that he even forgot to take his phone. It is likely that what happened came as a surprise to the senator.
Crime and staging
After some time, details related to the senator's detention emerged. As it turned out, a criminal case was opened against Savelyev for preparing to commit murder. This was reported by the Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation (*aggressor country).
In particular, according to the investigation, Dmitry Savelyev, while in Moscow, gave orders to organize the murder of an entrepreneur in exchange for monetary compensation.
According to preliminary information, has Telegram channel Mash, the failed victim is a businessman Sergey Ionovwho received money from the senator to develop his business. According to the channel, two years ago Ionov was an advisor to the general director of the company OOO OptoMonitoring for the installation of security systems, Andrey Andrianovsky. Savelyev was a co-founder of the company. Ionov became a defendant in a criminal case on embezzlement of the company's funds, as he took 1.6 million rubles from the accounting department and spent it on his own needs. For this, he was sentenced to 2.5 years in prison. In August 2022, Andrianovsky ceased to be a founder. After 11 months, Savelyev also left the business.
According to the senator's partner, he knows nothing about possible personal conflicts between Savelyev and Ionov. However, he noted that the parliamentarian was unhappy to learn that his funds were not used to develop the firm.
Ionov returned part of the stolen money during the investigation. Savelyev was a witness in the case. When the verdict was handed down, the senator never received the money and, probably against this background, could have ordered the murder of Ionov in the pretrial detention center. According to the investigation, he was allegedly ready to spend 9 million rubles to kill the businessman for stealing 1.6 million rubles.
The senator gave the order to organize the murder to his friend, who tried to find the perpetrator. The investigators staged the crime, and when Savelyev received information about Ionov's “murder”, he handed over the money to his accomplice. The senator was misled by showing him a call card for an ambulance, supposedly arriving to confirm the death, and the corresponding certificate. The currency for paying for the “killer's” services was changed by an assistant to a member of the Federation Council.
RBC writes that Savelyev and Ionov shared control over a certain financial fund through which cash flows passed.
The murder was to be carried out by an FSIN employee, but he contacted the FSB, reporting the crime in preparation. Two more people are involved in the criminal case, who could have acted as intermediaries in the transfer of money.
