The deputies of the Moscow city branch of the Communist Party unanimously supported the candidacy of the grandson of party leader Leonid Zyuganov in the election of the mayor of Moscow. This was reported by TASS with reference to the candidate’s press service. The nomination conference was attended by 93 delegates.
The head of the Communist Party faction in the Moscow City Duma, Nikolai Zubrilin, explained that the nomination of Leonid Zyuganov was due to his ten years of experience in the party, eight years of experience as a deputy of the Moscow City Duma. He also heads the commission on science and industry of the Moscow City Duma.
Elections of the mayor of Moscow will be held from 8 to 10 September. United Russia nominated the incumbent mayor Sergei Sobyanin, the New People party nominated State Duma Vice Speaker Vladislav Davankov, the Liberal Democratic Party nominated State Duma Vice Speaker Boris Chernyshov, A Just Russia – For Truth party nominated Dmitry Gusev, the first deputy head of the party faction in the State Duma.
