Investigators are looking for Babakov's connection with VS Energy
The State Bureau of Investigation reported suspicion to Deputy Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Alexander Babakov, who voted for a number of federal laws regarding the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine to become part of Russia, writes NV.
The SBI investigators found that he had previously supported all criminal decisions related to the violation of territorial integrity and military operations.
“As a result of the deliberate actions of the Russian deputy, there are numerous casualties among Ukrainian military personnel and the civilian population, damage and destruction of civilian, critical and military infrastructure in Ukraine,” the DBR said.
During the pre-trial investigation launched on Part 3 Art. 110 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine), Babakov was reported on suspicion. The article provides for punishment in the form of life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
In addition, the Bureau's investigators are investigating the possible involvement of the Deputy Head of the State Duma in the activities of the VS Energy group of companies, which owns critical infrastructure facilities on the territory of Ukraine.
Recently, the SBU, together with the State Bureau of Investigation, conducted searches at VS Energy, which controls oblenergo in Ukraine.
In May of this year, the draft Scheme reported that the DBR was conducting a pre-trial investigation under five articles of the Criminal Code in relation to VS Energy, which indirectly belongs to Babakov, Giner and Voevodin, representatives of the Luzhniki group close to the Kremlin.
As the prosecutor of the Office specified to journalists Prosecutor General Roman Tulin, the version was investigated, according to which a group of citizens of the Russian Federation, close to the leadership of the aggressor country, acquired assets of critical infrastructure and other commercial facilities on the territory of Ukraine through various agreements and frauds.
So far, officially the beneficiaries of the group Latvian citizens Willis Dambins, Arturs Altbergs, Valts Vigants, as well as German citizens Oleg Sizerman and Marina Yaroslavskaya are considered.
Earlier, the CEO of VS Energy Ukraine Igor Sudakov stated that “for more than eight years, the shareholders of the VS Energy group have been EU citizens. According to Sudakov, “Alexander Babakov is not and has never been a shareholder of the VS Energy group.”
