Get ready for the cleansing! Krasnoyarsk: analysis of elections
Elections have died down in the Krasnoyarsk Territory. Well, as soon as they died down, they passed quietly without any incidents or out of the ordinary events. But don’t be discouraged – the most interesting things are yet to come. The newly elected governor threatens the government with large-scale purges – he promises that the heads of personnel are about to fly.
Kotyukov for the kingdom
In the gubernatorial elections, United Russia member and current acting governor Mikhail Kotyukov predictably won with a result of 70.22%. The second place also turned out to be predictable – Alexander Gliskov from the LDPR received 11.32% of the votes.
But with the third place there was an opportunity. There was an excellent representative of the “Greens” Irina Ivanova with 8.24%. I must say, we are pretty stunned. Irina Gennadievna did not even show her nose at the television election debates and almost did not conduct a public campaign. And the TV channel under her leadership spent the entire pre-election period singing the praises of government candidate Mikhail Kotyukov, which hinted at a moment of some kind of bias and contractualism. In general, miracles.
Next after Ivanova is the candidate from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Andrei Novak – he scored 6.03%.
Well, Maxim Markert from SRZP turned out to be an outsider – only 1.70%. But Maxim Andreevich so famously and with fire denounced the oligarchs and crooks in power, promised purges and total justice – but the residents of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, apparently, did not heed these promises.
The winner of the gubernatorial race, as soon as the Election Commission counted all the ballots, announced purges in the regional government. In a commentary for TASS, Mikhail Kotyukov said that the composition of the regional elites will be updated to a significant extent. True, I didn’t dwell on specific personalities on the way out – I kept the intrigue for the joy of all of us. We look forward to it and make behind-the-scenes bets.
Actually, it would be stupid to expect that Kotyukov would not win with the budgets he had. As we wrote earlier, 110 million rubles were pumped into the United Russia pre-election, which made him the most expensive candidate in Siberia and the second in Russia after the candidate for governor of the Moscow region, Vorobyov.
729 thousand people took part in the voting – 35.54% of the total number of voters in the region. For gubernatorial elections, the turnout was very weak, if not disastrous – this year they elected for the first time on three days in a row, giving voters the freedom to choose the day to vote. Even in neighboring Khakassia, where the result of the election of the head of the republic was a foregone conclusion due to the illness of Sergei Sokol, the turnout was almost 40%.
But for some reason Mikhail Kotyukov is sure that low turnout is a sign of stability. “The low turnout indicates that the situation is quite stable,” he said on the Yenisei TV channel. Strange logic.
However, in 2018, Alexander Uss was elected with an even lower turnout – 28.94%. In the Krasnoyarsk Territory over the past two decades, Alexander Khloponin was elected with the greatest enthusiasm in 2002 – then 47.20% came to the polling stations in the first round and 46.80% in the second (then Khloponin and Uss fought, the latter lost).
Eremin leaves for the capitals
There are also no surprises in the by-elections for the State Duma deputy in Divnogorsk district No. 56.
Sergei Eremin, who received 57.54% of the votes, can safely pack his bags and say a tearful goodbye to the Krasnoyarsk streets – after all, the capital’s wide avenues await him. Sergei Vasilievich does not hide his joy from leaving for Moscow, which he shares in his Telegram:
“My friends, thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your support! I can’t tell you how much I am grateful to you! For me this is a new experience, a new stage in life and, of course, a huge responsibility. I promise to do everything possible not to let you down and to truly effectively represent the interests of all Krasnoyarsk residents at the highest legislative level of the country.”
We are also happy for Eremin – we hope that he, like Alexander Uss, will break his forehead for the benefit of all residents of Krasnoyarsk. Alexander Viktorovich, I remember, also promised to do something similar when he was elected to the Federation Council senator in the spring.
They steamed it. Their City Council
In the new Krasnoyarsk City Council, 83% of the seats will be taken by representatives of the United Russia party. All others received only six seats in total.
The party in power receives 30 seats in the City Council: 12 on the party list and 18 on single-mandate districts. The LDPR will have four deputies. And one each for the Greens and the Communist Party of the Russian Federation. Representatives of other parties did not get into the City Council.
For United Russia, the elections to the Krasnoyarsk parliament were an important moment – one might say, a revenge. The previous convocation, which was elected five years ago, included 17 United Russia members, 11 representatives of the Liberal Democratic Party, four communists, two Fair Russia members and one representative of the Green party.
The trend towards pluralism of opinions had to be reversed. In order to get their deputies into the city parliament, United Russia even put acting governor Mikhail Kotyukov at the head of the list – they went straight for broke. Which, it must be said, looked rather controversial from the point of view of the image of Mikhail Mikhailovich himself, who was lowered to the level of a locomotive in the city representative body. But one way or another, United Russia managed to reverse the situation of five years ago and take revenge.
Next to Kotyukov, the United Russia party list was headed (in descending order of number): State Duma deputy Yuri Shvytkin, head of Krasnoyarsk Vladislav Loginov, chairman of the Krasnoyarsk City Council Natalia Firyulina, deputy of the Legislative Assembly of the region Elena Penzina. This is what this “dream team” looked like:
Well, they steamed it off with dignity.
Zhirinovites surrender, Gliskov is with his
It is also worth saying a few words about the LDPR as a party that in recent years has received the status of the second political force in the region. The yellow-blues, of course, lost a lot in the Krasnoyarsk City Council. Four mandates in 2023 versus eleven mandates five years ago. Today, followers of Zhirinovsky’s teachings will not be able to cheerfully and fervently promote legislative initiatives at the city level.
Well, Alexander Gliskov’s second place in the gubernatorial elections is not bad. If the result were higher, it would be generally good. But it turned out the way it turned out. And we understand perfectly well that without the participation of the party in power, Gliskov might not have emerged at all as a candidate who passed the municipal filter – everyone remembers the thank-you circles that Alexander Alexandrovich wrote down for Mikhail Mikhailovich as a token of gratitude for admission to the electoral process.
So, in essence, everyone stayed to their own.
