The Krasnoyarsk court sentenced Artur Akzigitov, a former senior lecturer at the Siberian State University of Science and Technology named after Academician M.F. Reshetnev (SibGU), to ten years in a penal colony, finding him guilty of corruption. The case states that the teacher accepted exams and tests for bribes without testing knowledge, and also acted as an intermediary in the transfer of bribes to other teachers. In Krasnoyarsk, the court considered a criminal case against a former senior lecturer at the Siberian State University, who was accused of three dozen corruption crimes. This was reported in the West Siberian Transport Prosecutor’s Office. The website of the Krasnoyarsk garrison military court indicates that this is the case of Artur Akzigitov. According to Kommersant-Siberia, he is a former employee of the Department of Technical Operation of Aviation Electrical Systems and Flight and Navigation Systems of the Siberian State University.
The criminal case against Artur Akzigitov was initiated in February 2020 by the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation (ICR) based on the materials of the transport police.
According to the investigation, for four years (from 2015 to 2019), students gave bribes to the teacher – from 10 thousand rubles. up to 110 thousand rubles, and he gave them positive marks without actually testing knowledge in the subject.
In addition, as the investigation established, he acted as an intermediary in the transfer of bribes to other teachers of the university. The investigation calculated that during the specified period the teacher received more than 800 thousand rubles from students, of which 300 thousand rubles were for intermediary services.
Artur Akzigitov was detained and charged under Part 3 of Art. 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Taking a bribe”), art. 291.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Mediation in bribery”), there are more than 30 criminal episodes in the case. The teacher spent several days in a pre-trial detention center. He was later transferred to house arrest and then released on bail. As interim measures, the investigators secured the arrest of the car and the land plot of the accused.
The criminal case was considered by the Krasnoyarsk garrison military court: Artur Akzigitov combined teaching work with service in the Ministry of Emergency Situations, he has the rank of major. According to the press service of the court, the defendant admitted his guilt in part, disputing a number of episodes.
The presiding judge Dmitry Filipenko appointed the teacher ten years in a penal colony (the state prosecution demanded a year and a half more for him).
After the verdict was announced, Artur Akzigitov was taken into custody and handcuffed. The verdict has not entered into force yet.
