Krasnoyarsk businessman Anatoly Bykov may remain behind bars for the rest of his life. According to the first court verdict, he has already been sentenced to 13 years in prison for organizing the contract killing of two people. In the second attempted murder case, the prosecutor asked for 12 years in prison. In total, a term of 18 years is assumed, and not all criminal cases have reached the court. All crimes are 20 years old or more. And earlier Bykov’s guilt on them was not proven.
Who remembered the affairs of a popular businessman and politician not so long ago and why?
The ex-director of the Krasnoyarsk Aluminum Plant (KrAZ), a sort of folk “Robin Hood”, Anatoly Bykov was very popular at one time. Quickly “rising” in the 1990s from a teacher of physical education, Bykov became an influential businessman and authority in certain circles. It is said that the tough style of managing his team of former athletes helped him achieve everything.
As Versia previously reported, Anatoly Bykov at various times controlled the largest metallurgical and energy enterprises of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, including OJSC Krasnoyarsk Aluminum Plant, OJSC Krasnoyarsk Metallurgical Plant, OJSC Krasnoyarskenergo, OJSC Krasnoyarskaya HPP, OJSC Achinsky Alumina Refinery, OJSC Achinsk Oil Refinery, OJSC Krasnoyarsk Railway, Metaleks Bank, Medistal Insurance Company. Bykov’s personal income at that time was estimated at $45 million annually.
The Krasnoyarsk branch of the “Patriots of Russia” owes its popularity to the authority of Anatoly Bykov. The businessman even intended to go into “big politics.” But the affairs of the past days suddenly began to surface, which in those very days, with someone’s filing, went down on the brakes.
Business is tough
The former Krasnoyarsk authority Vladimir Tatarenkov (Tatarin), the leader of the Sayanogorsk criminal group, has been behind bars since 2012, and in those years he did not give any evidence against Bykov. Who or what made the former authority speak, we will assume a little later. But the fact is that Tatarenkov called Bykov the organizer of the double murder. In 2019, Bykov was detained.
In September 2021, by a court verdict, Anatoly Bykov went to jail for 13 years for organizing the contract killing of two of his competitors. According to the materials of the investigation, in 1994 Bykov ordered the killer to “remove” two businessmen – Alexander Naumov and Kirill Voitenko. Bykov did not share the income from the joint business with Naumov, a conflict arose. Soon Bykov’s car was almost blown up – the explosion occurred in front of the car, the businessman himself was not injured. Bykov decided that Naumov could organize the assassination – there was no one else, and decided to take revenge.
The same local authority Tatarenkov, who had his own brigade of killers, helped with revenge. They shot the “nine”, which included Naumov and Voitenko, and when they tried to escape, they caught up with them and finished them off with point-blank shots.
During the investigation of the first case, the previously silent killer of Tatarenkov, Alexander Zhivitsa, who was the executor of the murder of businessman Andrei Nekolov and the attempted murder of a former partner, once Bykov’s “right hand”, Andrei Grabovsky, suddenly spoke up. The latter in those years served as vice president of the Boxing Federation of the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
According to investigators, in 2004 Anatoly Bykov decided to kill Andrey Nekolov, the founder of a Krasnoyarsk industrial waste disposal company. Zhivitsa agreed to fulfill the order for 50 thousand dollars. But in the course of preparation, Bykov allegedly cancels this order and gives a more urgent task to eliminate Andrey Grabovsky. On the road, a killer from a Kalashnikov assault rifle riddled the athlete’s car, but he was not injured.
After an unsuccessful assassination attempt, Zhivitsa “out of a sense of duty” returned to the first order. Andrey Nekolov was shot by a mercenary from a TT pistol with four bullets, two of which were in the head. But for all the cases, Zhivica received only 10 thousand dollars: for an unfulfilled urgent order and a long execution of the second.
The prosecutor requested 12 years in prison for Anatoly Bykov. Given the 13 years in prison in the first case, the total term could be 18 years in prison. But that’s not all. Two more cases are being considered: on the creation of a criminal community (Article 210 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and incitement to the murder of crime boss Vladimir Filippov.
Cleanup in Krasnoyarsk
In 1998, Anatoly Bykov already considered himself the “omnipotent” king of Krasnoyarsk and the entire region. In the same year, the authority of Philip (Vladimir Filippov) was released. The latter in the 1980s had a lot of weight in Krasnoyarsk. His first trips “to the owner” were even before the dashing 90s.
It is clear that the authority of the old school sought to establish its power in the city and began to cobble together a gang of criminals around itself. This could not but anger the current “owner” of Krasnoyarsk, Anatoly Bykov. In the summer of 1998, Philip was liquidated. After this murder, attempts by the underworld to move the “aluminum king” stopped.
In 1996, a local resident Oleg Gubin was killed in Nazarovo. No traces led to Bykov then. But in 2003, hearings were resumed in this case. Within its framework, Anatoly Petrovich was charged with complicity in the murder plus illegal arms trafficking.
But even then Bykov turned out to be innocent, he was accused only of covering up the murder. Under this article, the “aluminum king” received 1 year in prison, but right in the courtroom and was amnestied.
“He will sit! I said”
This phrase of the famous movie hero explains the current position of the former “aluminum king” quite well. Since 2019, from the moment of detention, one case after another has been initiated on the old sins of Anatoly Bykov. They remember everything. And they seem to remember. Why, suddenly, such a turn after 20 years of silence?
It can be assumed that, in part, Anatoly Petrovich himself became the initiator of such activity of law enforcement officers. Already in jail, in April 2021, Bykov announced that he intended to run for the State Duma. Allegedly, this decision of his was warmly supported by Krasnoyarsk residents on his Instagram page**.
The authorities and, in particular, Alexander Uss did not forget Bykov’s earlier ambitions to take the governor’s post. Despite the criminal background, if Anatoly Bykov were free, he could get real support from some part of the Krasnoyarsk electorate.
