American Travis Leak is suspected of organizing the sale of mephedrone, NTV reports. He is arrested. Earlier, the media reported that the American’s apartment was searched and “substances of unknown origin” were seized for examination. He could connect Russian women to his marketing scheme, persuading them to distribute goods.
Travis Leak previously served in the US Air Force and participated in the Iraq War. In 2014 he visited Ukraine, after that he moved to live in Russia.
He played in the Russian group “Seize the Night”. At the same time, he acted as not only a vocalist, but also a producer. Previously, he produced the Slot, Louna and Cockroaches! groups, and also translated the texts of the latter group into English.
The press service of the Khamovniki Court of Moscow reports that the musician is “accused of organizing a drug dealing business involving young people.” Details are not given. In addition, the court said that Lik’s friend Valeria Grobanyuk was arrested in Lik’s case.
Both of them are charged with an article of the criminal code on “illegal production, sale or transfer of narcotic drugs on a large scale.” If guilty, Lik and Grobanyuk face up to 12 years in prison.
The US State Department said it was aware of Lik’s arrest. The Office is working on providing consular assistance.
This is not the first high-profile arrest of a US citizen in recent times in a “drug” case. In February last year, the well-known basketball player Brittney Griner was detained at Sheremetyevo Airport. She was found to have hash oil, and then sentenced to nine years in prison on charges of drug smuggling. At the end of last year, Greiner was exchanged for a Russian citizen Viktor Bout.
