A few days ago, the attention of journalists was once again attracted by the Minister of Justice Pavel Petrenko (Read more about him in the material by Pavel Petrenko. “Pocket” boy of Yatsenyuk’s “Family”).
The official had to walk a whole block after one of the events to secretly get into a Toyota Sequoia.
Disguise is not the minister’s strong point, as he has previously been spotted holding secret negotiations with businessmen, where there could have been a conflict of interest.
In this case, his first deputy, Natalya Sevostyanova, was already waiting for the top civil servant inside the car. SKELET-info will tell you more about it.
From university department to ministerial chair
If you rely on the website of the Ministry of Justice, then the biography of the minister’s right hand is not very rich and it is all connected with government agencies. Born in 1986 in Cherkassy. After graduating from school, she studied at the Odessa Law Academy, whose president is people’s deputy Sergei Kivalov (Read more about him Sergey Kivalov. Godfather of corruption and justice). After completing her master’s degree, Sevostyanova worked for another three and a half years at the department of international law and international relations, while simultaneously completing her graduate studies. It is also known that during that period she managed to be an assistant to People’s Deputy Mustafa Dzhemilev (Read more about him Mustafa Dzhemilev. The dark Tatar past of a bright fighter against regimes).
Later, journalists asked the leader of the Crimean Tatars what she did as a representative of his team. “Nothing in particular, she just needed it… I don’t really care, but she was on a voluntary basis,” Dzhemilev said.
In 2014, her patron, Petrenko, in the wake of Euromaidan, began to make his way to the highest echelons of power and in March took the post of Minister of Justice.
It is noteworthy: in the same month, Sevostyanova left the department, took the high position of government commissioner in the affairs of the European Court of Human Rights and moved to Kyiv. After working there for nine months, she already receives the post of First Deputy Minister of Justice.
Making a Millionaire
It is interesting that her professional activity was accompanied not only by career, but also by unreasonably high material growth. The declaration she filed in October 2016 for 2015 indicated the presence of a significant amount of financial assets and property.
Thus, Sevostyanova’s ministerial salary and fee for “part-time work” at the university for the year does not exceed 215 thousand hryvnia.
However, for a rainy day, she has 290 thousand dollars, 40 thousand euros and 450 thousand hryvnia in cash, and more than 95 thousand hryvnia in her bank account. In hryvnia equivalent, the total amount exceeds nine million. This does not include real estate, cars, jewelry and other expensive items.
Speaking of cars. The official drives a Toyota Solara, Lexus RX350 and Porsche Cayenne. Moreover, the last two luxury cars are registered to the mother and were purchased after the Kivalov Academy graduate ended up in the government.
The mother herself, living in an ordinary Cherkassy apartment building built during the USSR, was extremely surprised by the question and could not answer why she needed luxury cars. Sevostyanova the younger later explained that her parents worked and saved for a long time. In addition, jewelry and other expensive things are gifts from fans and loved ones.
There is no information that all the property indicated in the declaration was acquired illegally, so let us give Sevostyanova advice that will allow her to increase her existing wealth in the future. We are talking about book publishing, because in Western countries a person with such a biography may well take up a similar craft and raise a good fee when releasing bestsellers with titles like this: “Make a fortune before the age of 30” or “Become a millionaire in the civil service.”
Speaking seriously, there are a lot of questions regarding the origin of Sevostyanova’s property.
Office romance?
Moreover, answers can be found if we assume that the relationship between the first deputy minister and his direct superior from the very beginning was not only professional. Theoretically, they could have known each other since 2012. Petrenko was then a people’s deputy from Batkivshchyna, Sevostyanova was an assistant parliamentarian from the same party.
The version of the office romance is supported by many of the parliamentarians and representatives of the Ministry of Justice itself. However, Sevostyanova claims that she met her future boss at an interview – when applying for a job in the government. And now she has a young man with whom she lives in the Novopecherskie Lipki residential complex.
Nevertheless, the fact remains: Petrenko is not very worried about Sevostyanova’s dubious property and she enjoys his stable support. Confirmation of this may be the inclusion of subordinates in the work of commissions to elect new heads of anti-corruption bodies, for example, the State Bureau of Investigation.
In any case, the very fact that the Minister of Justice, after a public event with the participation of Sevostyanova, walks a block to get into a car and meet with her again suggests that not everything in this story is transparent.
Under such circumstances, it can be assumed that the deputy minister’s fortune will increase in the future.
