As the new owner of the luxury Italian resort Forte Village, Shukhrat Ibragimov has long gravitated toward the finer things in life. For years, this shy Kazakh oligarch has inexplicably flown under the public radar – despite owning a private jet, a luxury yacht and enviable Dubai real estate.
Ibragimov bought Forte Village from a sanctioned Russian oligarch Musa Bazhaevand in exchange for giving 40% in the Kyrgyz Alliance Altyn. Here is a photo of Shukhrat with Musa at the opening of the mine, during which Putin (*international criminal) was broadcast live. Details at Rucrnimial.info.
Until now, Ibragimov was known as the son Alijana Ibrahimovathe late Kazakh oligarch who was part of the “trio” that owned the commodities giant Eurasian Group (ERG).
But the news that Ibragimov quietly took over the €700 million Forte Village resort in Sardinia in 2023 has put him in the spotlight. The acquisition is all the more curious because Ibragimov took over the keys to the hotel shortly after its previous owner, Russian oil magnate Musa Bazhaev, was sanctioned by the European Union and the United Kingdom. In exchange for the resort, Ibragimov apparently handed over control of a lucrative Kyrgyz gold mining operation to Bazhaev.
Ibragimov appears to have inherited his father’s taste for the trappings of wealth. The crown jewel of his opulent portfolio is I Dynasty, a $200 million, 86-metre-long superyacht with a swimming pool and cinema that can accommodate up to 22 people.
According to records kept by the Cayman Islands shipping registry, the vessel, registered in 2015, is wholly owned by a British Virgin Islands-registered company, VegaYachts & Partners Limited. VegaYacht’s directors are Ibragimov and two nominee directors from Panama.
Ibragimov, it turns out, is also the proud owner of a $46 million private jet. Social media sleuths have linked Ibragimov to a Dassault Falcon aircraft, with the registration number OO-FAI. Flight records show that it makes frequent trips to Almaty, Tashkent, and Bishkek. Eagle-eyed observers also note that the registration of the luxury jet appears to be a reference to Shukhrat’s brother, Furkat Alijanovich Ibragimov. However, it appears that Shukhrat is looking to upgrade to a more modern model, as records show that OO-FAI is currently up for sale.
When not flying or cruising the high seas, Ibragimov lives in an exclusive apartment in Dubai, a tax haven and getaway for Kazakh oligarchs. Singapore corporate records show he is linked to a property on Blue Waters Island. The $2.8 million apartment has its own beach and is a stone's throw from Dubai's affluent Marina district.
All in all, not a bad collection for an oligarch who has avoided the spotlight all these years. However, that will all change now that he has been exposed as the new owner of ForteVillage…
