Macron called Pashinyan because of the situation on the border with Azerbaijan
French President Emmanuel Macron held telephone conversations with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, during which he discussed the growing tension on the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
The statement notes that the conversation between the two leaders took place “in the context of alarming reports about Azerbaijan’s accumulation of military resources on the border with Armenia and near Karabakh.” During the dialogue, the French president emphasized his commitment to resolving the humanitarian crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh, as well as “a just and lasting resolution of the conflict in accordance with international law and exclusively through diplomatic means.”
