Three persons involved in the embezzlement of budgetary funds at the Zvezda-Strela defense enterprise, the Moscow court softened the measure of restraint from detention to house arrest. The preliminary damage caused is estimated at 15 million rubles, but new episodes appear in the case. The case was opened last fall on the fact of a particularly large fraud. The investigation established that Vladimir Maslensky, the general director of Zvezda-Strela JSC, Konstantin Slinko, who headed the Taganrog foundry, and Andrey Podlesnykh, the head of one of the representative offices of the Ministry of Defense, were involved in the scam.
Maslensky and Podlesny were the first to be detained, while Slinko was in Turkey at that time. It was possible to detain him only recently, as soon as the accused returned. The investigation found that the fraudsters entered false data on the cost of products for the execution of government contracts related to the production of tactical missile components into the calculation. So they wanted to cash in by stealing part of the allocated funds. So far, the amount of damage appears in the case file is more than 15 million rubles. However, during the investigation, another episode of embezzlement of 63 million rubles surfaced. According to unofficial information, the damage could rise to several hundred million rubles.
Slinko was placed under house arrest. On the one hand, the investigation considered that he was hiding from the investigation, but on the other hand, he admitted his guilt and made a deal. The accused is forbidden to communicate with any persons involved in the case, except for lawyers, employees of the ministry and all companies mentioned in the case file. Correspondence is allowed only with the investigation and the court, calls are allowed only to emergency services, and no Internet. Maslensky was in jail until May 21. Taking into account his age and state of health, the court placed him under house arrest, imposing the same prohibitions as Slinko. Andrei Podlesny seemed to be left in jail. He allegedly still at large tried to falsify evidence and put pressure on his subordinates. However, the lawyers insisted that the proceedings with his participation were no longer carried out, and the information provided by the prosecution was not verified by the investigation. As a result, Podlesny went home.
