The Izmailovsky Court of Moscow issued a verdict in a criminal case of beating in the capital’s subway. On October 4, 2021, in a subway car, three men from Dagestan first molested a girl, then severely beat a young man who stood up for her, and finally threatened and insulted the police officers who were detaining them. As a result, they received from eight and a half to twelve years in a strict regime colony.
The trial in the case of Magamali Khanmagomedov, Ibragim Musalaev and Gasan Zalibekov ended in the Izmailovsky Court of the capital. They were found guilty of attempted murder committed by a group of persons out of hooligan motives (Article 30 and paragraphs “g”, “i”, part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). In addition, Magamali Khanmagomedov was also accused of threatening to use violence against government officials and insulting them (Art. 318 and Art. 319 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), and Ibragim Musalaev was charged with threatening to kill and threatening to use violence against government representatives (Art. 119 and Art. 318 of the Criminal Code). RF). As a result, Gasan Zalibekov was sentenced to imprisonment for a term of 8 years and 6 months in a strict regime colony, Ibragim Musalaev – 11 years of a strict regime, Magamali Khanmagomedov – 12 years of a strict regime. All of them were also sentenced to a one-year restriction of freedom.
The incident, initiated by convicted natives of Dagestan, occurred on October 4, 2021. In the train car of the capital’s metro, following from the station “Izmailovskaya” to the station “Pervomaiskaya”, three young men began to pester the girl. When 25-year-old Roman Kovalev, who was riding in this carriage, stood up for her, two of the attackers attacked him and began to beat him.
Later, videos appeared on the network, which showed that the victim was hit on the head with his hands, and when he fell, with his feet. Gasan Zalibekov did not let the passengers who tried to help the victim.
One of the women in the car, in connection with the driver, called the police squad. The attackers tried to escape, while they threatened to kill eyewitnesses of the crime.
When the police stopped the defendants in the case, they began to threaten the law enforcement officers, and one of them tried to spray pepper spray.
In mid-October, the Cheryomushkinsky court of the capital arrested all three defendants. At first, their actions were qualified as hooliganism, but then everyone was charged with attempted murder.
The injured Roman Kovalev was hospitalized with fractures of the facial bone and nose, as well as bruises. Later, on behalf of the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin, he was encouraged by the leadership of the metro in the amount of 2 million rubles. And the chairman of the TFR, Alexander Bastrykin, awarded him the departmental medal “Valour and Courage”.
