Defendant Aleksey Shchetinin is known on TikTok as the “favorite son-in-law” from a viral video that has received more than 20 million views.
In October 2021, Aleksey Shchetinin was put on the wanted list on suspicion of committing a murder. The suspect’s wife and mother-in-law, who also previously appeared on TikTok videos, have appeared on numerous talk shows claiming that the case was allegedly filed illegally. In January 2022, Aleksey Shchetinin was detained in Krasnodar by the police and the FSB.
During the investigation, it turned out that since 2015 the man was engaged in thefts from houses, robberies and robberies, in total 58 episodes of theft of money, jewelry and other property were established for a total amount of more than 17 million rubles. In December 2020, while trying to rob a house in the village of Akhtanizovskaya, Temryuk District, Aleksey Shchetinin collided with the owner of the house, at whom he fired five shots, killing a man. In April 2021, the attacker was in the suburbs of Anapa, where he was looking for a house for a new robbery, the criminal investigation officers noticed him and tried to stop him. In response, Aleksey Shchetinin opened fire with a pistol, wounded both policemen, and then fled.
During the investigation, firearms and ammunition, stolen jewelry and other material evidence were confiscated from the defendant, the investigative department of the TFR reported.
