The man was sentenced to three years in prison to be served in a strict regime colony. He was also stripped of his right to hold positions in law enforcement for five years. Another ex-policeman was stripped of the rank of major.
It was established that on February 17 last year, the defendant, together with the head of the inter-municipal department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia “Svetlogorsky” Anatoly Semashko, extorted a bribe of 35 thousand rubles from citizens who were engaged in illegal mining of amber. The police chief received a bribe and handed over part of the money to Dudash.
The man was also found guilty of patronizing the illegal mining of amber. It has also been established that the policeman planted raw amber in the boat seized from the man. By these actions, he fabricated evidence.
Dudash pleaded guilty. He made a deal with the investigation.
