The former deputy governor of the Tomsk region, Yuri Gurdin, was charged with organizing embezzlement on an especially large scale, reported on the website of the Investigative Committee.
According to the UK, at least 70 million rubles were spent from one of the funds of the Tomsk region, allocated from the regional budget within the framework of the national project “Education”. According to preliminary data, Gurdin organized the embezzlement with the help of the director of this fund. The director has also been charged.
The criminal case was initiated based on the materials of the regional department of the FSB. Gurdin is charged with Part 3 of Art. 33, part 4 of Art. 160 of the Criminal Code (organization of embezzlement on an especially large scale). The maximum penalty under the embezzlement article is up to ten years in prison.
The former lieutenant governor was taken into custody.

The detention of Gurdin became known on July 13. He was Deputy Governor of the Tomsk Region for ten years, from 2012 to 2022. In the regional administration, Gurdin was involved in the implementation of regional policy in the field of investment and property relations, as well as international and regional relations.
He was Deputy Governor Sergey Zhvachkin. In May, he resigned. A few days later, Gurdin also quit. According to the regional administration, he “completed work due to the expiration of the service contract.”
