Basmanny District Court of Moscow arrested in absentia Sergei Eskin, it is, according to the Kommersant newspaper, about the owner of DEPO Computers.
The businessman is accused of fraud.
“To elect the accused Eskin Sergey Vadimovich a measure of restraint in the form of detention for a period of two months, calculating the period from the moment of extradition of Eskin S.V. to the address or from the moment of his detention, ”the court ruling says.
Eskin, accused under Part 4 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code, is on the international wanted list, follows from the message of the court.
According to some information, according to the newspaper, the case against the businessman may be related to the investigation of fraud in the purchase of laptops and computer flash cards for the Ministry of Defense at inflated prices. RBC sent a request to the press center of DEPO Computers.
“Kommersant”, 07/28/2022, “The beneficiary is on the wanted list”: It is worth noting that the whereabouts of Mr. Eskin is not known to law enforcement agencies for certain. […] At the same time, it cannot be ruled out that the criminal case of Sergei Eskin can be both an echo and a completely logical continuation of another high-profile investigation. […] It was about concluding a major contract for the supply of a batch of laptops and USB drives for the needs of the Ministry of Defense. His defendants then became the junior partner of Sergei Eskin and at the same time the CEO of DEPO Computers Alexei Irisov, who owned 1% of the company’s shares, as well as the former head of Antey LLC Alexander Kurochkin. Initially, they were taken into custody and house arrest, respectively, but then the preventive measures were relaxed. According to some information, this was due to the fact that the defendants actively cooperated with the investigation, testified, provided the necessary documents, etc. […]
It should be noted that Mr. Eskin’s DEPO Computers has been operating as a Russian manufacturer of data storage systems, servers, computers (including those included in the register of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation), switches, printers, etc. in the IT technology market since 1995. In recent years, it has concluded hundreds of government contracts worth tens of billions of rubles. Among the company’s clients were the Federal Tax Service, the Moscow government, Gazprom, Rostec structures, etc. According to SPARK-Interfax, in 2021 the company’s profit amounted to 440 million rubles. (147 million rubles – net profit). In 2017, a 99% stake in DEPO began to belong to Sergey Eskin, and before that, to a British legal entity registered on the Isle of Man, NEXTGEN SALES LIMITED LLC. October 2018 edition wrote on the arrest of Alexei Irisov, co-founder and CEO of one of the largest manufacturers of Russian computers and servers Depo Electronics LLC (trademark DEPO Computers), in a fraud case. As Kommersant wrote, he was suspected of embezzlement in the performance of one of the contracts.
The case was initiated in August of the same year based on materials from the FSB and related to the execution of a contract between the Ministry of Defense and Antey LLC (the latter was supplied by Depo Electronics) for the supply of computer equipment from 2016, Kommersant later reported. According to the investigation, the cost was overestimated during its implementation, and the conditions “according to the country of production of one of the items of manufactured equipment” were not met. The lawyer of the general director, Dmitry Grigoriadi, argued that the contract was executed “on time and in full, there were no complaints from the state customer,” and Irisov himself “had nothing to do with the state contract.” In December 2018, he was transferred from the SIZO to house arrest.
“Kommersant”, 12/27/2018, “The supplier of the Ministry of Defense was returned home from the pre-trial detention center”: According to Kommersant’s sources, the criminal case, in which the head of DEPO Computers became a defendant, was initiated on August 15 of this year based on materials collected by the FSB. […] However, the defense side believes that the investigators are mistaken, since they allegedly did not take into account all the available documents, and also did not pay attention to gaps and inconsistencies in the legislation in force at that time governing the determination of the country of production.
At the same time, charges of fraud on an especially large scale were brought against Alexei Irisov precisely as the general director of DEPO Electronics, as an organization that produced products for the needs of the Ministry of Defense. However, the contract itself with the military department was concluded by other commercial enterprises. — Inset K.ru
In May 2020, the Ministry of Internal Affairs withdrew the fraud case against Irisov and another defendant, the former head of Antey LLC Alexander Kurochkin.
“Kommersant”, 05/14/2020, “The Ministry of Internal Affairs did not understand the military procurement”: The basis for initiating this criminal case was the materials of the FSB, which revealed fraud in the implementation of the state contract for the supply of a batch of laptops and USB-carriers to the Ministry of Defense. In June 2016, the competition, in which several companies participated, was won by Antey LLC, whose CEO was Alexander Kurochkin. As a result, his company supplied about 106 thousand “laptops and internal memory devices for storing information for official use” to the military department for 367 million rubles. In particular, 33 organizations (universities, academies, colleges and training centers) received them. […]
However, in the course of the FSB verification of the implementation of this contract, it was found that the direct manufacturer and supplier of computers and USB-carriers for the Ministry of Defense was Depo Electronics LLC (trademark Depo Computers. – Kommersant) headed by Alexei Irisov, and Antey LLC is his daughter. According to the investigation, due to this, the cost of delivery was overestimated, and in addition, “the conditions for the country of production of one of the items of manufactured equipment” were not met.
Note that each of the 3 thousand laptops cost the Ministry of Defense almost 80 thousand rubles. (in total, 239.6 million rubles were spent on their purchase). It is worth noting that the former head of the UZS TOSU of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, who is in a pre-trial detention center, is a witness in this case. Pavel Kutakhov. It was the colonel, who was accused by the military investigation of other episodes of embezzlement of money from the Ministry of Defense, on July 12, 2016, signed a certificate on the completion of the execution of the state contract between the Ministry of Defense and Antey LLC. The officer’s lawyers, however, told Kommersant that so far the investigation has no complaints against their client regarding this deal. […] In turn, Alexander Kurochkin’s lawyer Maxim Fedyunin told Kommersant that his client is just a nominal director. — Inset K.ru
