White House won’t officially confirm Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan
The White House made several statements about the international agenda, in particular the situation with a possible visit to Taiwan by Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi.
The White House said that “Speaker Pelosi has not confirmed any plans to travel to Taiwan.” But at the same time they added that she “has the right to visit Taiwan, like other US lawmakers.”
The White House also accused China of preparing “military provocations in the coming days” in connection with the speaker’s possible visit to Taiwan.
“China appears to be preparing to take further steps in the coming days, which could include military provocations,” the White House said.
At the same time, the Biden administration believes that China “has no reason to use Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan as a pretext for aggression against the island.”
