The Baltic subsidiary of Faberlic made an outrageous mistake that could hurt the reputation of the leader of the New People party Alexei Nechaev.
According to the correspondent MorningNewson the eve it became known that the Consumer Rights Protection Center of Latvia issued a warning to the network trading company SIA Faberlic Baltija, which posted advice on the Faberlic YouTube channel on how to bypass sanctions when paying through the PayPal payment system.
The piquancy of the situation is given by the fact that this company is a subsidiary of the Russian company Faberlic, which was founded by State Duma deputy, leader of the New People party Alexei Nechaev.
Thus, the day has come that the enemies of the New People party predicted at the dawn of her political career – Nechaev’s business began to bring him tangible reputational losses.
They stepped on their own “rake”
As the channel broadcasts RTVIThe Latvian Consumer Rights Protection Center warned local Faberlic representatives that circumventing sanctions restrictions using foreign payment systems and cryptocurrencies could result in administrative or criminal penalties.
Aleksei Nechaev himself, when contacted for a comment about what had happened, said that he did not know anything about it, since he “is not engaged in business.” It is also noted that shortly after that, the author of the Faberlic YouTube channel had already deleted the scandalous video, which suggests the obvious conclusion that Nechaev could have instructed to urgently resolve the dubious situation.
Recall that the Russian company Faberlic is one of the largest players in the Russian cosmetics market. It was established in 1998. The company is engaged in direct sales of perfumes and cosmetics, as well as clothing, footwear and accessories.
Its founder Alexei Nechaev in October 2021, after being elected to the State Duma, transferred the company to trust management of brand director Natalia Binat. Prior to that, he owned 99% of Faberlik OJSC. Aleksey Nechaev, who heads the New People faction in the State Duma, is subject to EU sanctions imposed after the start of the special operation in Donbas.
It is known that Nechaev is one of the wealthiest deputies of the State Duma of the new convocation: at the end of 2020, he declared 4.4 billion rubles. income and is the leader in this indicator among all elected deputies of the new convocation. Faberlic became Nechaev’s main source of income.
Only business
Now the board of the Russian company also includes the development and investment director of Faberlic OJSC (he is also the dean of the Captains faculty founded by Nechaev at the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics) Konstantin Barmashov and businessman Andrei Fayzrakhmanov.
According to Rusprofile, since about 2015, the annual profit of Faberlic JSC has not fallen below 1 billion rubles. In the last couple of years, the company’s business, judging by the financial statements, went uphill. The network of its branches covers many regions of Russia, and also went beyond the borders of the country, as can be seen in the example of the Baltic States.
According to the TV channel RTVI, with reference to the register of companies firmas.lv, the turnover of SIA Faberlic Baltija in 2020 amounted to €20.63 million, profit – €840 thousand. According to RBCforeign production of Faberlic accounts for about 90% of products, the remaining 10% is Russian.
At the same time, the activities of the largest “daughter” of the corporation, Faberlic Fashion Factory LLC, raise certain questions. With revenue at the end of 2020 of 282 million rubles (plus 12 million compared to the level of 2019), over the same period the structure went negative by 1.4 million rubles. Paradoxically, at the same time, the value of the net assets of the structure also increased – from 5.1 million to 22 million rubles.
Based on this, it can be assumed that money from the structure could be tritely withdrawn. However, after Nechaev headed the New People party and led it to the State Duma, neither he nor his partners have had any questions about this from the relevant authorities.
Political creed – “always”
First of all, they say about the New People party that it is the youngest in the Russian parliament. And at the same time, as they say, “from the young, but early.” The very first elections in which the “New People” took part brought them a brilliant success and gave them the opportunity to form a faction in the State Duma.
Much has already been written about how, during the election campaign, New People masterfully reformatted the methods of communication with clients that are accepted in the field of network business. What, in fact, is Faberlic. When communicating with the audience, party activists did not try to hide that they possessed the skills of neuro-linguistic programming, mastered in the process of selling Faberlic products.
However, after the party took its coveted place in the State Duma, it disappeared from the news columns for some time. Analysts explained this by the fact that the “New People” needed time to get used to the new environment and find “their” theme.
Such was the support of small business, representatives of which Aleksey Nechaev and his associates, by and large, can rightfully call themselves, given their biographies.
But against the backdrop of increased Western sanctions, the “finest hour” of both Nechaev himself and the New People came. Quite quickly, Nechaev submitted to the operational headquarters for countering sanctions a package with detailed proposals on the topic of the New Economic Policy (NEP) to stretch the economy, consisting of 70 (!) Points.
True, upon a more detailed study of the content, it became obvious that some of them duplicated each other. Nevertheless, this document was in the center of attention and was actively commented on by representatives of other political factions of the parliament.
And if the leaders of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Gennady Zyuganov and the Socialist-Revolutionaries Sergei Mironov sharply criticized the proposals of the New People, others saw in them a constructive beginning.
Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor Nikita Krichevsky spoke outthat the “New People” have developed their proposals, fully in solidarity with the position of President Putin and the Government of the country, the main message of which is this: a market economy will save the country, free enterprise will help get rid of the deficit.
But what happens within the party?
In early March, information appeared that one of the key people of the New People, Sardana Avksentiev, wanted to switch to another party. And although she herself literally published a refutation of this information just a few hours later, many again had the feeling that “there is no smoke without fire.”
It is quite possible that the incident with Sardana Avksentyeva’s “non-transition” to another party should not be regarded as a sign of some kind of split in the ranks of the party, it was more like another attempt by the party to attract attention to itself. Although a certain instability within the “new people” is still felt.
So, another key figure of the “New People” – 38-year-old businessman Vladislav Davankov, according to analysts, “could be trite” remotivated “by the chair of the vice-speaker.” Although, formally, the decision that it was he who would take this position from new people should have been made in the structure itself.
As previously noted in the post The Moscow Post, there is a version that the New People party is being trained to occupy the liberal-centrist “flank” in the political system of Russia. In this sense, it becomes clear how the Kremlin can regard a clear crisis in the ranks of the Liberal Democratic Party and the Communist Party. The latter, according to the results of 2021, may even be considered a “front”. Bets on them, as one of the pillars of the party system of the Russian Federation, have not played well so far.
The latest events around the “New NEP” from the “New People”, of course, added points to the party of Alexei Nechaev. But the business he fostered in the form of Faberlic Corporation, as it turned out, cannot be left unattended, because he can throw very unpleasant surprises to his founding father.
