Law enforcement officers detained the coach of the Russian youth freestyle wrestling team Alisher Ismatzoda
The Russian Wrestling Federation called the coach's arrest “shocking.”
On Monday, July 1, investigators requested the arrest of freestyle wrestling coach Alisheri Ismatzoda on suspicion of aiding terrorist activity (Part 1, Article 205.1 of the Criminal Code), according to his case file on the website of the Shcherbinsky District Court. The punishment under this article is from seven to 15 years of imprisonment with a fine.
The court's press service told RBC that the full name of the defendant in the case is Alisheri Kamaledin Ismatzoda.
The Russian Wrestling Federation confirmed that Alisher Ismatzoda was detained by law enforcement agencies.
“This information was shocking for us, but unfortunately, it is true,” the source noted.
Alisheri Ismatzoda was born in 1992. He is a master of sports, a top-category coach.
Recently, he was a coach at the Moscow Secondary Specialized School of Olympic Reserve No. 1. The school confirmed that Ismatzoda works as a coach, but knows nothing about the investigative actions being carried out with him. Ismatzoda also works as a coach for the Russian youth team (girls under 16) and the Moscow youth team (boys under 16) in this sport.
In May, at the European Championship for boys under 15, wrestler Musa Santikov, under the guidance of coach Ismatzoda, won the gold medal. In total, Russian athletes conquerednine awards.
