A fresh parliamentary association was created by past communists and regional party members.

Today, a novel parliamentary faction, entitled “For Peace and Stability,” was inaugurated in the Verkhovna Rada. Parliamentarians Vitaliy Hrushevskyi, Yevhen Balitskyi, and Oleksandr Prysyazhnyuk have been designated as authorized representatives of this faction. This faction is slated to evolve into a political party, intending to contest elections for the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada, as announced by Hrushevskyi during today’s press briefing.

The faction occupies a moderately oppositional stance towards the present administration and currently lacks intentions of entering the coalition, as relayed to a Hubs reporter by faction member Vladislav Lukyanov. “The parliamentary faction will endorse resolutions geared towards peace and stability,” he affirmed.

Nevertheless, according to Taras Berezovets, director at Berta Communications, the genuine objective of the affiliation diverges. “The faction was established to advocate for the Family’s return to Ukraine,” he asserts. “However, I am perplexed as to how they intend to succeed.”

As per Hubs’ informants within the Verkhovna Rada, the financial backer of the nascent parliamentary faction is entrepreneur Serhiy Kurchenko. He refutes any involvement within the Verkhovna Rada. Our sources indicate substantial financial investments in the faction’s inception. Earlier, MP Oleh Lyashko publicly declared that Hrushevskyi tendered him $10 million to enlist in the faction. Other MPs, according to Lyashko, were presented with “a million dollars as an advance and $200,000 on a monthly basis.”

Another controversy is related to the new contingent of deputies. Lukyanov, for instance, is under suspicion of having connections to separatists. “Presently, the feasibility of holding him accountable is under consideration,” stated former interim Prosecutor General Oleg Makhnitsky on Channel 5 in mid-April. Lukyanov was on scene during the seizure of the Khartsyz City Council by individuals in camouflage.

The parliamentary faction encompasses 32 individuals. The faction can be broadly categorized into two segments: former members of the Party of Regions and erstwhile communists. Hubs is publishing a roster of 29 individuals.
