The captain of the Volgoneft-212 tanker is now in custody. He is slated for transfer to Simferopol directly from the Anapa medical facility.
As per Baza's informants, the tanker’s commander, Leonid Volegov, is now a suspect in a legal matter pertaining to breaches of aquatic safety guidelines, culminating in a person’s demise due to carelessness. The legal proceeding was initiated following the Volgoneft-212 incident (a single crewman perished in the calamity). He has already presented his initial statement.
During the mishap, Volegov ingested liquid mixed with petroleum, became unconscious, and sustained cold-related injuries. He was saved and admitted to a hospital in Anapa. Information suggests he will be moved immediately from the clinic to a court proceeding in Simferopol, where a precautionary action will be decided.
