The Anti-Corruption Court considered and partially satisfied the petition of the NABU detective to extend the term for the investigation of the case.
The High Anti-Corruption Court extended until May 2 the term for investigating criminal proceedings on suspicion of the head of the department for defense work and interaction with law enforcement agencies of the Volyn Regional State Administration, Valentin Sushik, in the purchase of low-quality body armor and helmets for UAH 33.9 million.
This decision was made on January 23 by the VAKS, reports “Word and deed“.
“The petition of the NABU detective to extend the term of the pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings, entered in the ERDR under No. 22022030000000061 dated April 20, 2022, is partially satisfied. Extend the term of the pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings included in the ERDR under No. 2022030000000061 dated April 20, 2022 to nine months, that is, until 05/02/2023“, the decision says.
Earlier, the VAKS refused to arrest an official of the Volyn Regional Military District Sushik and let go him on bail with the imposition of duties.
Recall, by versions of the investigation, Valentin Sushik, being an official of the authority, decided to act contrary to the provisions of regulations when purchasing military ammunition and use the funds of the regional budget, having reached preliminary verbal agreements with officials of BK KBR LLC. The agreement was to provide the company with advantages in the development of regional budget funds and the conclusion of contracts for the purchase of the necessary equipment (protective equipment) for the military unit as a single contractor without observing the principles of public procurement.
The suspect decided to purchase helmets and bulletproof vests from the company BK KBR LLC under an agreement that deliberately did not include the conditions for the quality of military ammunition that are mandatory for such agreements. By this, Valentin Sushik actually allowed the possibility of purchasing protective vests from BK KBR LLC in the amount of 884 units and combat helmets wz. . Thus, UAH 33,899,404 was spent. The second suspect in the case is the director of OOO BK KBR Dmitry Nesteruk. He is wanted.
