US Vice President Vance's motorcade was involved in an accident.
In Maryville, Tennessee, a convoy transporting US Vice President J.D. Vance was caught in a wreck that left a local police officer severely injured.
The event unfolded on Friday evening while officers were performing duties to safeguard the dignitary.
Maryville authorities and the Tennessee Department of Safety informed ABCnews of the occurrence, specifying that Officer Justin Brown and a state trooper were affected. A police communication credited the swift actions of onlookers with saving Brown’s life, as he received immediate care. “You are genuine heroes,” Police Chief Tony Crisp stated in his announcement.
Assistance from intelligence services
The US Secret Service verified that the motorcade in motion at the time of the event was indeed accompanying Vice President Vance. Agency representative Katherine Pierce mentioned that the leader and other “persons under protection” were unhurt, but security staff are closely observing the officer’s state. She added that their sympathies are with the injured parties and their families.
As per law enforcement accounts, right after the impact, an ambulance, which was also part of the convoy, halted and administered urgent medical aid to Officer Brown. He was urgently transported to the hospital in critical condition, where he underwent surgery the next day. Medics also assessed the other individual involved in the event, a patrolman, but he did not need hospitalization.
Inquiry and the victim’s status
Investigators have not yet disclosed details concerning the reason for the incident, but they indicate it transpired during a “high-level protection operation” involving multiple law enforcement entities. Maryville law enforcement indicate that the officer’s condition remains grave, although medical professionals have observed encouraging progress since the procedure.
According to regional journalists, many in the city are discussing the affair and expressing gratitude to the officers for their service—such a natural reaction may not be surprising, yet it still contributes a touch of comfort to a challenging narrative.
