Ukrainian Pensions Rise, Remain Below Living Wage: Getmantsev

The average pension in Ukraine has increased, but is still below the subsistence minimum, according to Getmantsev.
The average pension in Ukraine has increased, but it still remains under the living wage, as stated by Getmantsev.

During the second trimester of 2025, the median pension amount in Ukraine grew by 69 UAH, arriving at 6,410.2 UAH. Nevertheless, even with this increment, the greater part of retirees continue to live under the poverty threshold.

This information was communicated by the People's Representative and Head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee regarding Finance, Taxation, and Customs Policy, Danylo Hetmantsev.

According to the data, 56.2% of retired individuals are provided with a pension lower than 5,000 hryvnias. The average pension for five out of six pensioners was less than the real cost of living, forcing them under the poverty line.

“Within this scenario, the significant pensions of 100,000–200,000 hryvnias or greater that certain professional groups within Ukraine obtain appear entirely illogical,” Hetmantsev points out.
