Following the allocation of 40 votes from Texas electors at their assembly on Tuesday, December 17, Donald Trump obtained the necessary tally of electoral votes to formally secure the US presidential victory.
This is according to a CNN report.
It is worth noting that although Trump emerged victorious in the November 5 election, his triumph was officially ratified on Tuesday, when electors from every state convened to register their votes for the president.
Subsequently, each state’s votes will be submitted to the United States Congress. Lawmakers are scheduled to meet in a joint session on January 6 to officially tabulate the votes and publicly announce Trump and Ohio Senator J.D. Vence as the incoming president and vice president of the United States.

The Associated Press, widely regarded as the most dependable source for ascertaining the election outcome, affirmed that Donald Trump, through his win in Wisconsin, has attained the overall success in the 2024 US presidential election, guaranteeing the requisite 270 Electoral College votes. Earlier, both The Hill and Fox News had declared Trump as the victor.
The US Presidential inauguration is set for January 20, 2025.
