Trump said Ukraine will never join NATO, despite Kyiv's demands.
NATO has long had no plans to accept Ukraine, Trump said in an interview with Politico.
“It was always understood, long before Putin, that Ukraine would not join NATO. It was long before Putin, frankly. And now they're insisting. You know, when Zelenskyy first met with Putin, he said, 'I want two things. I want Crimea back, and we'll be a member of NATO.' And he didn't say it very kindly. You know, he's a great salesman,” the US president said.
Let us recall that Trump's peace plan calls for Ukraine to abandon NATO, but Kyiv refuses to agree to this.
