Trump linked the possible annexation of Greenland to plans to create a global missile defense system.
Trump said he wants Greenland so he can shoot down missiles “like matches.”
“This is very important for the United States. We're building a 'Golden Dome' that will tower over the country. If anyone wants to launch missiles, they'll shoot them down in mid-air like matchsticks. You know, Ronald Reagan wanted this many, many years ago. He was ahead of his time. We're building a Golden Dome, and the presence of Greenland makes it much more effective,” the US president said.
