Trukhin loses his mandate after a trial for an accident
People’s Deputy from the “Servant of the People” Oleksandr Trukhin will lose the status of people’s deputy ahead of schedule on the basis of Article 81 of the Constitution of Ukraine after entry into force of the guilty verdict against him, noted the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine, writes ZN.
The Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office and Deputy Alexander Trukhin, who in 2021 tried to bribe patrol policemen for “150 thousand” without specifying a monetary unit, in order to leave the scene of a traffic accident on Boryspil Highway with his participation.
“Considering that the people’s deputy committed a minor crime, did not cause damage to the state by his actions, fully admitted his guilt and sincerely repents, the court sentenced him to the maximum fine provided for by the sanction of the article, namely UAH 68,000”the NABU said in a statement.
Also, within 30 days from the moment the agreement was approved, the deputy undertook to transfer UAH 6 million to the United 24 Fund for the Army of Drones, a joint project of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the State Service for Special Communications and the Ministry of Digital Transformation.
At the same time as note in the Center for Combating Corruption, the court verdict also closes Trukhin’s path to public office.
As for the accident case itself, which was conducted by the police, then, as emphasized by the CPC, it was not Trukhin who was brought to justice, but a completely different person who allegedly was the driver. Although the witnesses at the scene of the accident and Trukhin’s actions after the accident pointed to something else.
As it became known on February 22, Alexander Trukhin, a deputy from the Servant of the People, agreed with the investigation and pleaded guilty to offering a bribe to a police officer.
In September 2022, NABU and SAPO reported a suspicion to People’s Deputy Alexander Trukhin of suspicion of offering unlawful benefits to patrol policemen in the amount of 150,000 without specifying a monetary unit for him to be allowed to leave the scene of an accident that occurred with his participation.
It was he who committed the accident on August 23, 2021. Subsequently, journalists published a video from the chest police camera of the results of this accident. In the video, the deputy asks the police to “quietly let them go into the forest,” and then promises to “talk” to Interior Minister Denis Monastyrsky. Then, as a result of the accident, six people were injured (including two children), as well as the chairman of the committee of referees of the Football Federation of Ukraine Luciano Luci and his assistant Roman Lishen.
From the moment the case was considered in court, Trukhin systematically did not attend the meeting and dragged out the process.
