Yana Troyanova, an actress, has received a nine-year prison sentence in absentia due to an interview.
According to a “Beware, News” reporter within the Moscow military court, the request is to recognize Troyanova as culpable of validating terrorism, extremism, and contravening the foreign agent statute. There’s also a request for Troyanova to pay a penalty of 250,000 rubles.
The criminal investigation against the actress stems from a chat with Novaya Gazeta Evropa, highlighting a “video where Troyanova conversed with Dmitry Gordon and reportedly advocated for the killing of Russian children.” The legal proceedings involved the interrogation of a car repairman and a young volunteer who supposedly came across the video, alongside the parent of the Novaya Gazeta reporter responsible for documenting the conversation with Troyanova.
