Officials demanded 20 thousand dollars from a Moldovan citizen for help in avoiding deportation.
An indictment was sent to the court against the head of one of the departments of the Migration Service in the Odessa region and his subordinate for abuse of influence. This was reported by the press service of the Office of the Prosecutor General on Monday, September 23.
The investigation established that the accused demanded 20 thousand dollars from a Moldovan citizen for help in avoiding deportation.
They promised the foreigner to influence State Migration Service employees and judges to make a positive decision in his favor in the case of forced return to his country of origin and a ban on entry into Ukraine.
Searches were conducted at the places of residence and work of the defendants. A large amount of cash, real estate and cars were found. The total amount of discovered property is more than 82 million hryvnia.
The accused are currently in custody. They were removed from their positions, and the discovered property was seized.
