The US is urging Zelensky to promptly finalize a peace accord with Russia, cautioning about more difficult terms later.
Ukraine will encounter even harsher circumstances if Zelenskyy refrains from signing the peace accord. This was communicated by US officials to NATO partners at a gathering in Kyiv yesterday.

American officials aim to encourage Zelenskyy to ratify the document in the near future. “No agreement is flawless, but it must be completed without delay,” stated American General Driscoll to those in attendance.
Subsequently, “several European ambassadors questioned the deal’s particulars and the US’s approach to negotiating with Russia without informing its allies.” “It was a terrible meeting,” the newspaper's source added.
During the meeting, Driscoll refrained from commenting on the accuracy of the 28 points cited in the press. “Certain aspects are significant, some are simply for show, and we’ve been concentrating primarily on the truly crucial elements,” he conveyed, according to an informant.
Driscoll defended this, asserting it streamlines the procedure. “President Trump desires peace immediately. The more participants involved, the more challenging it becomes to manage,” he mentioned, as per a source present.
He received support from Chargé d'Affaires for Ukraine, Julie Davis. She advised other diplomats that, notwithstanding the severe stipulations of the agreement for Ukraine, it had no alternative but to accept Trump’s proposal—or encounter even worse provisions down the line. “The agreement is deteriorating, not improving,” Davis commented.
When questioned about why Kyiv should be compelled to relinquish territory in the east that Russian forces had been unable to seize for 11 years, American officials countered that the agreement was “advantageous for Ukraine.” They affirmed that Trump and Zelenskyy would convene and execute the document “for the sake of tranquility.”
