The US is boosting its air presence in the Caribbean region by sending F-35s closer to Venezuela.

Washington is sending an additional group of F-35A Lightning IIs to Roosevelt Roads Air Force Base in Puerto Rico, located about 850 kilometers off the coast of Venezuela.
The base already houses a squadron of ten F-35s, and the new addition significantly increases the US air presence in the Caribbean region.
