The United States has launched an operation against pro-Iranian groups in Iraq, The Wall Street Journal reports.
“We are conducting operations in Iraq as part of Operation Epic Fury, but this is to defend American forces as they come under attack from Iranian-backed groups,” said US Central Command spokesman Tim Hawkins.
Over the past 24 hours, the Islamic Resistance in Iraq (IRI) carried out 26 operations against US bases in the Middle East. The movement claims that the militants used dozens of drones and missiles against American troops.
