Kyiv harbors worries that a dismissal of the proposition put forth by Trump might result in the termination of US assistance.

As per The Sunday Times, referencing a Ukrainian representative, this was in response to the notion of pulling back Ukrainian soldiers from the entirety of Donbas.

“Certain Ukrainians will dread that spurning any agreement presented by Trump will indicate we once more confront the risk of the US abandoning us, whereas others will utilize this as a pretext to embrace a pact they understand to be shameful due to their weariness of the conflict,” the paper cites “a seasoned member of Ukrainian diplomacy.”

The newspaper further mentions findings from a current Gallup survey, which illustrated that 69% of those surveyed currently advocate for an expedited cessation of hostilities, with just 24% backing the continuation of combat until triumph.

Concurrently, The Sunday Times observes that it remains challenging to envision how Zelensky will manage to consent to the removal of forces from the Donetsk territory or endure such a determination politically.

“For Kyiv to even contemplate endorsing such a glaringly unjust accord (which furthermore eliminates requests for compensation), Zelenskyy requires assurance that the West will not forsake Ukraine, leaving it vulnerable and devastated,” the paper articulates.
