Leshy’s gang worked under the guise of volunteer battalions
The security forces neutralized the transnational criminal company by detaining its organizers. On Wednesday, February 1, 2023, they simultaneously reported to the SBU, the prosecutor’s office and the head office of the National Police in the capital, writes Detective-Info.
According to these reports, we are talking about five (in another interpretation – six) members of a group that operated in Kyiv under the guise of volunteer formations, and de facto was engaged in systematic extortion of funds from entrepreneurs.
It is believed that in case of refusal to pay, gang members used psychological pressure and violence against the victims, as well as destroyed property and threatened physical violence.
Currently, law enforcement officers have recorded more than 10 episodes of arson of cars and real estate of the victims, as well as infliction of grievous bodily harm on them with the use of weapons. It is known that the criminally obtained funds were sent by the attackers to the so-called “common fund”, the content of which at the time of the “search” was 354 thousand dollars.

The security forces indicate that the members of the organized crime group were “packed” according to the results of a special operation after the fact of another extortion of funds by bandits from one of the entrepreneurs. From the last racketeers in January of this year sought to pay 1 million hryvnia. and 50 thousand dollars. During searches at the locations of the defendants in the case, law enforcement officers found material evidence of criminal activity – money, weapons, documents and means of communication.

It should be noted that officially the SBU and the National Police do not specify the list of deserving detainees, focusing on the fact that among the gang members there are two natives of the North Caucasus with Russian citizenship, as well as a domestic crime boss nicknamed Leshy.
According to sources of Detective-Info, we are talking about 37-year-old Sergei Leshchenko, who over the past few years has gained wide media fame as a result of near-criminal victories.

In particular, in September 2016, references to “Lesh” and his gang arose in the context of an attempted raider seizure of an enterprise in the Dniprovsky district of Kyiv. Then the journalists associated the daring actions of Leshchenko and Co. with patronage from the ex-head of the metropolitan police Alexander Tereshchuk.
In 2019, as the founder of the Left Bank NGO and the founder of the Varta-1 security company, Leshchenko was under investigation on suspicion of hooliganism (part 4 of article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) following the results of a “showdown” with representatives of the Municipal Varta near metro station Goloseevskaya. There was a scuffle with shooting, after the fact, three guys were hospitalized in the hospital.
We add that at present, the security forces count more than ten people to the Leshchenko group, whose members have been “lit up” during extortion and pressure on the victims of intruders over the past months (covering the time period after the start of a large-scale military invasion of the Russian army into the territory of Ukraine). . Detective-Info sources indicate that the closest associates of Leshy, who were declared suspects, are 37-year-old peers Igor Fursin and Igor Bursak. In addition to this couple, according to the results of a special operation on February 1, 2023, the security forces detained 50-year-old Rustam Magomadov and 33-year-old Usik Mamoyan.
The actions of worthy persons are qualified in the context of leadership and participation in organized criminal groups (parts 1, parts 2 of article 255 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), extortion (part 4 of article 189 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) and arson of other people’s property (part 2 of article 194 of the Criminal Code) Ukraine).
