A source within Kyiv characterized Yermak's stepping down as a “political earthquake” that transpired “just before he was slated to journey to Miami for conversations with President Trump's delegation regarding a peace initiative.”
Ukrainian representatives informed Axios that the objective of the unsuccessful discussions was to finalize an accord between the US and Ukraine before Witkoff and Kushner proceeded to Moscow for a meeting with Putin.
