The prosecutor’s office began an investigation due to the accident at CHPP-3 in Chelyabinsk
Without hot water and heating were left for houses and social facilities in two districts.
The prosecutor’s office of the Chelyabinsk region organized an inspection due to the accident at ChTPP-3. This resulted in a shutdown heating and hot water supply in apartment buildings and social facilities in certain areas of the city.
“On instructions from the regional department, the prosecutor of the Traktorozavodsky district of Chelyabinsk immediately carried out a visit, and received explanations from the responsible persons about the possible causes of the current situation and the timing of liquidation of the consequences. The development of the situation, including the connection of consumers, is under control,” the department said in a statement.
Let us note that the incident at Chelyabinsk CHPP-3, owned by Forward Energo (formerly Fortum), occurred the night before. According to the Chelyabinsk administration, this led to a shutdown of the heat supply to part of the housing stock and social facilities in the northwestern part of the city, the Metallurgical and Traktorozavodsky districts. At 5:30 am, most of them are connected to the heating. However, calls for damage to intra-building networks of apartment buildings and social institutions have been recorded.
“At the Chelyabinsk CHPP-3, an incident occurred related to an increase in pressure in the pressure pipeline of the heating network due to a malfunction of the heating network pressure regulator. To eliminate the defect, restoration work was immediately organized,” Forward Energo PJSC reported.
