On November 29, the Almaty Specialized Interdistrict Administrative Court ruled to suspend the license of Only bet and Alpha bet with the Olimp trademark for a period of six months and freeze the accounts. The bookmaker’s office, not agreeing with the decision of the investigating court on the arrest of accounts, filed an appeal, but the Almaty city court left the decision unchanged. It is not subject to appeal, the press service of the city court said.
Lawyer Badri Shainidze claims that the seizure of the company’s accounts could lead to a big scandal.
“This idea with the fact that the accounts of Olymp were arrested, I, as the president of the Association for the Protection of Citizens’ Rights in the Sphere of Gambling, is very scary. This is very bad, because we are now receiving alarm calls about how to get money out of there now. It turns out that people will not be able to pull out their money now. It seems to me that this situation can grow into a grandiose scandal.”Shainidze emphasized.
Earlier, the KNB reported on the identification and blocking of channels for the illegal export of funds outside of Kazakhstan. The Department of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Almaty, together with the prosecutor’s office, initiated a pre-trial investigation into the organization of an illegal gambling business by the administration of the Olimp bookmaker.
