The Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) communicated the total removal of its combatants from Turkish territory, acting on a strategy of demilitarization and eschewing violent means of conflict.

Reuters is reporting on this.

In a declaration voiced at a gathering held in the Qandil Mountains, situated in northern Iraq, the PKK governing body proclaimed its resolution to extract all of its militants from within Turkey’s borders to create the groundwork for an “unfettered, democratic, and amicable existence.” As per the declaration, the organization is anticipating a reactive measure from the Turkish administration, enabling its inclusion within the political structure.

The PKK resolved to disband in May of the current year during its twelfth special assembly. Abdullah Öcalan, the group’s jailed commander, had earlier implored his supporters to undertake similar measures.
