Ural Airlines said that the 33-year-old man is a hereditary pilot. He was born in Tbilisi in 1990 and from early childhood dreamed of becoming a pilot, like his father and grandfather.
Sergei’s grandfather was a military man navigator, served in Severomorsk and was demobilized from the army with the rank of major and as a navigator of an air squadron of Tu-16 strategic missile carriers. Sergei’s father graduated from the Sasovo Flight School with honors and the Kirovograd experimental pilot courses on the Yak-40, then mastered the Tu-134 aircraft and at the age of 28 was the commander of the Tu-154 crew.
He worked in Yekaterinburg as an instructor pilot at Ural Airlines.
He was also awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor for his courage and high professionalism during a false emergency while taking off from Odessa airport in 1989.
